If You Are Starting A Link Exchange Program
I get about 10 to 15 emails a day from people wanting to trade links.
Most of these are from people who have just set up their site and are just starting out.
These are the mistakes that I see a lot.
When you have a Page Rank 0 site:
- Do Not threaten to remove the link to my site if I don’t respond in so many days – sometimes I get backed up and don’t even read your email for a month or more.
- Do Not tell me about how much traffic your going to send me with your link – I know that’s Bull Sh*t - when I start reading these emails I skip over a few paragraphs, if I happen to get to the end of your email before I see anything else worth reading then I hit delete.
- Do Not send a giant copy and pasted email - Keep it very short and to the point. If you really think you can write something personal that will grab my attention then go ahead and try. Otherwise – keep it very short and to the point.
- Do Not put my link on a page with 1000 other links of all different types.
- Have a very obvious easy to find link from your home page to your links page – I only take about 3 seconds to look for it.
- Break link pages up into categories, 30 to 50 links on a page maximum.
- Keep link page within 2 clicks of home page.
- Links on a similar domain name not your main domain – if you have gone through the trouble of buying a domain that looks similar to your domain so you can try and trick people into linking to it – you’re an idiot don’t email me.
- Java script that jumps to my link.
- Redirects to another page on your site that jumps to my link.
- Home page has a link to a subdirectory with some links then you place my link in a similar spelled directory with no linked to your home page.
