When To Go Live With Your New Web Site
Funny how I will read about a topic for the first time, then within a couple hours I will read about it 5 more times.
This might be the same thing that happened to me when I bought a 1955 Chevy Pickup. I couldn’t remember seeing one on the road, then the day I bought one they were everywhere.
Anyway, I have been reading about people struggling with the monumental decision as to when to take their site live on the internet. They want to make sure that every detail is taken care of before they go live. They must have experts look at the before “they go live”.
All of these things must be done before “they go live”. Well I don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble but putting a site on the internet is not quite like buying 10 minutes of TV time during the super bowl.
I have put several sites on the internet and had them indexed with the search engines then waited months before I had my first visitor.
If you are getting ready to spend $500,000 on an adwords campaign then ok I agree with you, make sure you get everything on your site the way you want it. But most of these people are talking about putting up pages then getting listed with the search engines.
This take time, sometimes it takes a lot of time. Sometimes it takes up to a year.
I have tons of stuff on the internet that nobody has seen except me. I know it’s there I type in the url and look at it, and no one else has ever seen it.
So my advice is don’t waste a lot of time worrying about the perfect moment to go live. Just put the pages up and work on them until you’re satisfied:
- then start trying to get some traffic
- wait a few months
- someone may see your site
