Dnforum.com :: Great Web Site :: Confusing Sign Up
This is one of my pet peeves… I am going to try not to break into a rant here, but it’s not going to be easy.
I just registered for dnforum.com because I was looking at a web site and thought I wanted to post a bid on it.
So I answer all the questions, which was not that bad… They don’t demand a social security number or anything.
Then it tells me I will get an email, so I wait for the email then I click on the email link and now I am registered.
I try to go back to the page I was on and I get this message:
Gordon Gekko, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
3. If you are trying to access the adult forums, you have to be over 18 years old .
So I had more permission as an anonymous unregistered user than I do as a registered user, ok so I go someplace else where I do have access to other than the web sites for sale. Of course web sites for sale was the only thing I was interested in.
I look to see if I can post something, and nope. I have to upgrade my account to post anything.
I go to membership upgrade and this is what is annoying, there are no prices so I have to click on the pay pal button to see that a gold membership is $15.95
Ok, so I am not happy about the prices not being listed, now what am I sending in the $15.95 for??? And will I be able to post to or read the forum I want???
There is also a Platinum membership and an Exclusive membership, with the Gold - I hunt some more and find out I have the:
Ability to post/reply in the gold forum sections
Limited access to platinum forum sections
Now was the forum I was in Gold or Platinum? And what is limited access???
So being thoroughly confused I signed up for two Gold memberships.
Wow their marketing really worked on me – *just kidding*
