Phone Companies Want Money for Nothing

When you think about the business model of the phone company it gets interesting when it comes to your unlisted phone number.

In the beginning everyone had an unlisted number then the phone company came out with a directory, and then started charging you for having your number unlisted.

So what they did was take something away from you that you had – your unlisted number, and then they leased it back to you by the month.

There are not too many things you can take from people then turn around and get them to pay you a monthly fee to get it back.

I don’t like paying the phone company for an unlisted number, but I like the telemarketers calling me even less, so the phone company gets my money every month.

Even though I don’t like paying the money, I think the idea behind it is genius. I just wish I could think of something I could take from you then get you to pay me every month to get it back.

Now the wireless phone companies are trying to get into the act, anytime you have money for nothing you can expect there will be people working on getting it.

My new cell phone contract says that I agree to pay a fee to have my number unlisted.

So I am sure someone out there is working on a directory to take away my private cell phone number, so they can sell it back to me – by the month.
