Websites To Buy Or Build

I think buying a website from one of the forums is a good way to make some money.  If you have some money to start with, and you have the time to sit and watch for good deals to come up.

In addition I think you need to educate yourself on all the different software that is being used.

I looked at a directory for sale, but when I really started getting serious about it the amount of work really seemed more than I wanted to get into.

Just moving the data bases and dealing with mysql was more than I wanted to do.  If you not familiar with MySql then you need to be if your thinking about buying a site that uses it.

I found the software and tried to set it up on a site that I have that is not being used.  It was a lot of work, and not really what I want to spend my time doing.

I am sure once you move 5 or 6 data bases then you will probably know enough about mysql that you will be able to work though most problems.  But hunting down all the passwords and making sure you have database_username not username_database in all the correct places though all the code is not my idea of fun.

So while I think that investing in websites is a good way to make money online for a well educated investor.  I am not willing to spend the time it takes to get educated and to sit and watch for deals to come up.

AT this point I think that building new websites is how I would rather spend my time, since I can work when I want and not feel like I am missing out on anything.  Plus when I am finished with a site I know how the software will work.

Buying new sites is a big unknown, you will be making almost all your decisions with 50% of the information you need.  If you get 75% of the information and it happens to be accurate then you are lucky.
