Latest Ebay Auction - Making Money Online

I was reading through some of the eBay auctions (it’s a hobby of mine). I came across one that said you can make money online if you follow their system, you can turn $10 into $30,000 every month.

It had a buy it now price of only .01 so I thought I would take a chance and buy this because hey I can always use an extra 30 thousand dollars.

After I paid it took a while to get the email with the site that give me the exact instructions on how to make money online to the tune of 30 thousand.

The business method they recommend to use is to start with a list of 5 email addresses that they provide you then you send $10 to the name on the top and then put your name on the bottom and send it in an email to 40 people.

Only you don’t put the 5 email addresses in the email you send, you put them on a web site and just send an email and tell 40 of your closest friends to go look at the web page.

These 40 people will then do the same thing, and so on and so on. Eventually your name works its way to the top and then people start sending you the ten dollars, this adds up to $30,000 if enough people send in their money.

This is not illegal because they send you an information kit (or so they claim).

I am not even going to get into what I think the response rate would be, first of all I don’t have 40 friends and even if I did I doubt any of them would send in $10.

I was really thinking about trying it just to see exactly what would happen, but I am pretty sure that some judge ruled that if your sending out chain letters for money and you get caught you can’t claim that your selling something. I think the guy who got caught was claiming he was selling a photo copy of the instructions on how to work a chain letter. The judge didn’t buy it.

Anyway, I don’t want to take a chance on a chain letter so I am going to skip this one and move on to my next making money online adventure.

Update: After reading the comment about this being illegal, I realized that my wording was wrong when I said:
This is not illegal
What I was trying to say was:
The eBay auction claims this is not illegal, but I am pretty sure it is illegal.
I forget sometimes that everyone can’t read my thoughts.

Uh, sorry, it is illegal. It doesn't matter what they send you.

Take a look at a popular site: http://www.mmfhoh.org.
