What is link trading or reciprocal linking?

Trading links also called reciprocal linking is a web promotion strategy used by webmasters to increase qualified traffic to their sites. Webmasters search the Internet for other websites then contact those site owners requesting a link trade. If a site owner agrees to the trade, they then link to each other's websites in order to share traffic and boost page rank.

What does link trading do for me?

Link trading does two things for your site. First it generates traffic to your site. A visitor will see your link on our site, and click on it to come to your site. Second, reciprocal linking will increase your link popularity in the major search engines… ( You will get Google PageRank from our site). Better link popularity helps your listing in these search engines to be listed higher in the list of search results, which then increases the amount of traffic you get from those search engines.

What is a link trade page, and why do I need one?

If you have spent much time surfing the web, then you have no doubt seen that most websites on the Internet have a page, or even an entire section of their site dedicated to links to other sites. These pages are often titled:

* Resources
* Directory
* Related Sites
* Other Sites Of Interest
* Links
* Recommended Links
* Related Links
* My Favorite Links

Or something along that line.  Many webmasters feel that some search engines will penalize you for using the word “link” so that is why more sites are deciding to use other descriptive terms for their links page.

Most webmasters use these pages to put all the reciprocal links they have traded in a central location. Sometimes webmasters have reasons for linking to other sites on the Internet without a reciprocal link in return, and these links are also usually centralized on a page titled:

* paid links
* sponsors links
* premium links

If you want to link to more than a few other sites on the Internet, or if you want to make link trading a part of your website promotion efforts, a page dedicated to those links should be an essential part of your site.

This will get you more traffic, and increase your rankings in the search engines.
