Why these crazy offers bother me so much.

This morning I got up at 4:30 so I could give my parents a ride to the airport.

On the way I was thinking about the guy who started a forum 5 months ago and then just turned down an offer of $16 million dollars.

Also was thinking about the guy who started a blog around 6 months ago and got an offer to post about a website on his blog for $5000.

Then I started wondering why it bugged me so much when I read about people making money like this.

And it dawned on me that it sounds so simple…

Just start a website, anyone can do that.  Buy a domain name for $7 bucks and stick up a forum, wait for 6 months then get a $16 million dollar offer.

Accept the offer and retire.

It sounds so easy, but then I started thinking that I read about a lot of other people making money, like Donald Trump sold some building for $50 million.

That does not bother me, I don’t want to fly to New York, but some old building for millions of dollars I don’t have, then manage the building for several years until someone makes you a crazy offer.

Lots of work, and lots of risk involved with that so I don’t think twice about it.

But when I read about someone who started a website, and then started making lots of money. Then I always think, I could have done that.

I can start a website because there is little or no risk, and it’s not that hard to do.

But really making money with a website is a lot more complicated that it seems.

It’s a little more like picking a winning lotto ticket.
