Making Money Playing Poker
As soon as I leaned how to play poker I was fascinated by the game. I have always liked playing card games, and when you combine playing cards and making money then you really have something.
Recently I was talking to my niece and she was interested in learning to play poker to try and make some money at it.
Originally I thought that poker was an easy way for anyone to make a small consistent amount of money. I wasn't playing that long when I started making money and I have consistently made money from that day on.
When I started trying to explain to her what was involved in playing poker I realized that a lot of poker revolves around math. I was constantly saying if you have the odds in your favor then you would want to bet.
Then it kind of dawned on me, that math has always been very easy for me and it's something that I really don't spend a lot of time thinking about, it's just something that I have always known.
And for the most part while playing poker I am looking to play against other players who are bad at math and are willing to make bets against me with very bad odds. This gives me a huge advantage and allows me to win money when I am playing poker.
When I started I thought that anyone could easily learn to play poker and win money playing the game, now I would say that anyone who wants to work at it can learn, and if your good with numbers and math then it will probably go a lot faster for you.
Anyway, if you want to get started playing poker for profit. The first thing you should do is sign up for some online sites and get a program called poker tracker. Next, you should play between 100,000 and 200,000 hands of poker online. Then load those results into your poker program. It won't take you as long as you think, because after a while you will be able to start playing 2 then 3 tables at a time. I could play 6 tables with out much trouble at one time.
This will allow you to get there 6 times faster, and speed up the time it takes to learn the game. Playing all those hands will give you a lot of experience with the game, then you should start reading books and studying what the top players are doing.
This will improve your game to the point where you can consistently beat people who play the small stakes poker games. They play small stakes because they are not very good, and now you are good enough to where you can beat them.
If you treat this as a job you can make a very nice hourly wage, my guess is playing a limit game I could make around $15 to $25 per hour. And now the card rooms where I live play no limit, and my guess is that I could get to where I would be making around $40 to $60 an hour playing that game.
