• Web sites with related content are better to link to, and will give you more page rank than several links from less relevant sources.
• Currently we are only trading with sites that put our link on a page with Google PageRank 1 or more.
• If you have more than 100 links on your page you better have a lot of PageRank.

Basics of Beginning Linking:

• I have a spider that checks for your back link - please don't waste your time and mine trying to cheat.
• If you have a PageRank 0 site, don't threaten to remove the link you put up if you don't get a fast response - no one cares.
• Don't use the word "link" in your name or the file name of that page, call it "resources" or something else, there is a popular theory that Google will discount any page with the word link in the title, so why take a chance.
• Make sure you have a link on your main page to your links pages.
• Pick a good title, using your keywords if possible.
• Because most sites use your title to link to you, be sure to include one or two keywords, these keywords will help your Google ranking.
• Next you need a good site description. Try to keep your description under 150 characters and put your keywords toward the front of your description if possible, some sites will chop off the end of your description and you will lose any keywords after that point.
• When writing your site's description and title, don't sound spammy by simply repeating a bunch of keywords.
• As soon as you start you will realize that keeping track of all the requests is quite a job, it does not take more than a few dozen emails to get out of hand, then trying to keep track of who you sent emails to when you sent them, and what the response was.
• If your going to make any progress at all, you need to have a good system. I am using linkmachine.net it is free and works fine.
• You should install the Google Toolbar on your browser if you don't have it already. It lets you view the PageRank of any site your browser is on.
• Do not submit your site for inclusion on any site with a PageRank of zero as links to these sites might get you banned from Google.
• I have had a lot of requests to trade links from sites that have PageRank zero with tons of links, I just received an email to trade links with a site that had 43 pages of links around 50 links on a page, and they had a PageRank of Zero.
  Here this poor person is spending a lot of time trying to get more links and does not even realize that Google has banned his site. They need to spend a little time and remove the bad links from their site and they would probably get listed again and see a big boost in traffic from Google.
