I once again have the idea that trading links should be easier than it is. If you just have a couple links then it's no problem but once you get over 30 or so then it starts to turn into a headache. I just send an email to someone who has my link on their page already, that's a little embarrassing, when they wrote back and said my link was already up on their page. So I do the usual I search google, then the news groups then google again then the shareware directories - trying to find information on a good program to use to manage my links. I installed linksmachine because they said they were free, now the software is telling me I have 10 days to buy their premium software, and it is counting down the 10 days like it is serious. We will see what happens maybe all my work is just being wasted now so it's a little hard to spend much effort with the program until my 10 days are up and we see if it will self destruct or not. I run across dew-code.com it looks interesting I spend a half hours reading about it and trying to figure out if it is worth the effort or not, the price is free so I like that. After 30 minutes I realize that I have already installed this program on my site from about 4 months ago when I was doing the same thing I am doing today, trying to find a link manager program to use, I look at it and sure enough it is still there. The links are all link this: http://www.max5.com/phplinks/index.php?PHPSESSID=f3cf065f71f77365c45b8c693958ce01&PID=2 I remember that's why I never use it, and because of b2evolution my hosting service is kicking me off, so when I move I will not install this software again. I find another program on google that says they will generate a links page for you, it costs $495.00 and from the looks of it will probably take days to set up and configure then hours to enter a link. Funny how I don't mind wasting my time so much as wasting my money. I find another program at www.bricolage.cc it is free so the price is right can't really tell how many hours to set it up and I am not willing to take the risk now. Link Crafter v1If you are looking for a very simple solution for only one page of links, and you don't know how to program html, this might work for you. I download lc.exe from www.filelibrary.com and install the program link crafter v1 it starts to install in a directory called Bannermation which I already have on my computer. A quick look and yep I have already installed this program too. I really need to keep notes on all the work I have already done that does not pay off to keep myself from doing it again. Link Crafter v1 lets you enter all the information for your links and then will generate 1 page of code, I guess if you have more than one page you want then you just run through the process one time for each page. If you didn't know any html then this would be a good simple program to get you started, but for me it would be easier to just write the pages myself. I check out a couple more programs and they are a complete waste of time. Now I am back to just writing them myself, I could have updated several pages with the hours I wasted working on looking for a program to save me a few minutes. oh well. Now I have 4 more hours in looking for a link manageing program, I have found several PHP programs for free but they all have dynamic links, which I don't like because the search engines sometimes have trouble with them, and they just don't look good.
