Tool Bar Addition by Google

Google Tool Bar

This is a great Google Tool Bar addition, if you already have the Google tool bar or if you don't you can:

  • Put your unused computer time to work. Google has come up with an addition to their tool bar that is a really good idea.
  • Help do research by donating your unused computer time.
This is one of the few ways you can really help and it does not cost you anything.

I loaded the tool bar on my computer and to my surprise it does not have any spyware, no junk in your start up menu, and it really does not hurt the performance of your computer.

What it does do is let Stanford University use your unused computer time for research. It shows you what research your computer is actually doing,

right now my computer is doing protein research and I have the protein mocule number that it is working on - it is so Cool!

Imagine you can tell your friends that your computer is working on a research project at Stanford University doing protein research to help find a cure for diseases like Alzheimer's Parkinson's and Mad Cow.

Here is your chance to help and make a difference. To find out more:
  • then go to the bottom of the page and click on the large bar,
  • if your computer asks you if you want to install the software click on yes.
That is all there is to it.

You get the benefits of the standard tool bar:
  • search box for Google is on there
  • displays page rank for the site your on
  • has highlight option for search words
  • news features
I use the highlight option a lot, when you are searching for something and you hit a page of text with 3000 words on it, you know what your looking for is on there somewhere but do you really want to take 10 minutes to read through it... no...

Just click the highlight button on the tool bar and then fly though the document until you see the highlighted words.

Each word is a different color so if one word is common many times I will see 300 yellow highlights and 1 green.

Just saved myself 5 minutes of wasted time hunting for something.

The News features I don't use much.
