How to install a RSS News Feed Reader
I found these old feeds on my site
http://max5.com/atom.xml
http://max5.com/rss.xml
I think one was created by blogger, the other one was created by a website, but when I went back there it did not work.
The news feed reader that I use to look at all the different RSS feeds is http://www.bloglines.com/ is the one I use all the time and I kind of like it.
http://www.ponyfish.com/feeds/63166zbkTRWQL - this site will create a RSS file for your site and store it on their site, Not sure what the advantage to this is, but it seems to work and I was able to pick it up with bloglines. Not sure if it will automatically update the news reader file or not?
update: it looks like it does update your feed automatically. It will scan your home page and pull links off it and post them to your feed. This is pretty cool, and they only charge you if you want some of their advanced services,
- like advanced link and title filtering
- Manual feed updates
they also check your site more often like once an hour instead of every 4 to 8 hours, this is not a big deal for me since none of the stuff I post is news related anyway.
and if you sign up for a free account then your feed never expires, which is nice for me because lots of times I don't make any changes for months at a time.
http://www.ponyfish.com/feeds/63166zbkTRWQL - this is the link I set up for a RSS feed.
http://www.webdevtips.co.uk/webdevtips/codegen/rss_update.shtml - this site lets you create your own RSS file and upload it yourself. This worked nice until the automatically updating ones came out.
http://feedity.com/ - this site works, but it places several ads in your feed, which is not idea.
http://www.feed43.com/ - never was able to get this one to work, it just says:
ยป Item pattern should have at least one } macro defined
over and over and over again, even the example they give you did not work.
