Microsoft FrontPage 2003

Microsoft Frontpage set up page 2

I have spent another 4 hours today working with FrontPage.  It still looks like it would be a great program if it just didn't have so many steps to Everything.

I am still not able to get a web site up, and the menus are a mystery.

Everything is a 10 step process and I can figure out 7 or 8 of the steps which leaves me with web pages that almost works but not quite.

The menu structure looks like it could probably do everything I would like it to.

I just can't get any one menu to work.

When I put a menu on one page it is linked to the child pages, I struggle and get it linked to the home page but then the whole thing disappears.

I go back to my index page and now the menus are gone there also, and I have to do this for each page in the site, I am sure there is a way to change all the pages but I can't even think about starting on that project.

I know I have to:
  • find the code from a previous page
  • insert the code for the menu into the new page
  • select the type of buttons
  • find the navigation menu and drag the pages to the right tree diagram
  • find the chart that tells where the links should go, parents or child
At this point a couple of them will start working, sort of and I feel I am very close, but after all these click for each page I am worn out and I fire up my Nvu editor
  • type in a link
  • click publish
I am comparing apples and oranges I know, but after about 3 hours of struggling with FrontPage I am tired and can't take any more for that day.

To use it you really need to take a class or spend a couple weeks studying the program and stepping through all the options to make each step work.
So I will still use Nvu but when I have recouporated I will try PageFront again and see if I have any more luck next time.
