making money online

Nvu HTML Editor

Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") is an Open Source project started by Linspire, Inc.

Nvu was started from the Mozilla Composer and I just downloaded the newest version and it has some unbelievable upgrades.

The Spell Checker

The first thing that I noticed when I ran the program was that some of the words had red lines under them, actually quite a few had these red lines.  Then it hit me they were misspelled words.

This is such a cool feature after all the programs I have downloaded with spelling checkers that don't work this one is awesome.  It is one of the best spell checking programs ever.

One of my big complaints before was that it was so slow switching between the code view and the WYSIWYG view, well now that I know it is checking the spelling when it switches I don't mind the wait so much.

The 2nd feature that I noticed was the publish feature. I has a little trouble getting it working right.

It is not very intuitive as far as the file names go, but it's not that difficult to figure out, but the really great part is that all the ftp information is stored for each file the first time you upload it through the program, then after that if you want to update the page you just click on the publish button and it is uploaded to your server automatically.

It would be nice to have a window on the site for your files, but I guess you can't have everything, and to me the spell checking and the publishing functions make this program far better than anything else I have ever used.

Open Web Location

Is a funny description and it does not come close to telling you how great this function is.

There is a web page that I produced with a PHP program and I have been trying for countless hours to reproduce this page with HTML code.

I am not a great HTML programmer I really don't want to be, I just like to do what I want to do when I want to do it and I don't want to spend all day long trying to get it done.

I clicked on open web location and typed in my website address, and zap there it was I saved in on my disk and had a perfect copy of it.

This was truly incredible, what I has spend an entire day and failing to do this program completed in a couple seconds.

If you use this feature just once it will be worth it.

There are some bugs in the program, if you use it much you will probably have to close the program and restart it, this usually clears up any problems that crop up.

The Ftp publishing is a little touchy, it seems to have a feature that tries to upload all the files associated with your current file, this has never worked for me, it always hangs the program, but that's no big deal I can get out my ftp program for the few times I need to upload some other files.

For the main html file it seems to work pretty good.

It is pretty easy to put pages on the wrong site if you have more than one, so now I have a bunch of pages sitting on the wrong sites, but I just look at them as backups.
