Making money with Online Poker |
A few months ago when I started playing poker I didn't know anything about it.
Now after one or two thousand hands played I can tell that the money I am making is because I play very low limit games and the people I play against spend a lot of time saying it's only 20 cents let me see another card, or it's only 50 cents maybe I can hit runner runner hearts and get my flush.
When you have 7 or 8 people at a table with this attitude then I can make money because I play the odds for the most part. If I have a one in thirteen chance of hitting my card and I have to put in a bet that is 40% of the pot, for me it's an easy decision.
But a lot of new players don't look at it that way, and I think a lot of people are just playing for the fun of it, not really thinking if they are winning any money or not.
I have tried the higher limit tables like $2.00/$4.00 but I get killed. On a .05/.10 cent table nobody ever bluffs, because everyone will call you. So 99% of the time the person who has the best hand wins. When you start playing higher limits and your putting in $30.00 people start thinking a little more about how they are playing. And my strategy that works so great with the micro limit games, does not work anywhere near as good with these games.
Bluffing starts to enter into the game and you can't just wait for a killer hand and clean up with it. What usually happens to me at the higher level is the blinds come around 2 or 3 times then I get some good cards and bet, everyone folds and if I am on the big blind then I end up making the small blind. Then I pay out the blinds a few more times and pretty soon I am down some serious money.
